Challenges at the borders
Along the northern border of Ivory Coast and in other border regions of West Africa, communities face the threat of violent extremist groups (VEGs) seeking to exploit their vulnerabilities.
How can we effectively strengthen these communities?
And most importantly, how do we measure the success of resilience building?
Thus, in 2023 and 2024, the DRIVE program was implemented in eight border departments in northern Ivory Coast considered to be at risk of infiltration by Sahelian extremist groups.

Towards a resilience index
Ghana, particularly its northern regions, is facing a rise in cross-border extremist violence. Furthermore, challenges to social cohesion affect the entire country.
It is therefore necessary to combine targeted prevention with strengthening national resilience.
The resilience index in Ghana helps to identify vulnerabilities and track key stability indicators, while supporting local peacebuilding initiatives.
